MVX Joins WCAworld, the World’s Largest Network of Freight Forwarders
As the COVID-19 cloud began to clear over international trade in early 2021, a merchant found himself in a puzzling and potentially costly trade situation. Ali had a high-value import shipment from Pakistan to North-Eastern Nigeria that needed a reliable freight forwarding service to facilitate the speedy and seamless cargo transfer from a factory in Pakistan to his West African location. Unfortunately, the shipment failed to materialise. For what should have been a smooth and efficient import operation, Ali couldn’t find reliable freight partners in Pakistan to synchronise with the Pakistani ports authorities to clear and deliver the cargo. As a result, he almost lost that shipment.
International freight shipping is complicated, often involving tens of actors and moving parts. Therefore, managing it can prove really daunting for players. MVX has removed this headache for itself and its customers by joining the World Cargo Alliance (WCAworld) network. The WCAworld is the world’s largest and most powerful network of independent freight forwarders. It would allow the innovative freight shipping and trade finance technology company to have instant access to over 9,895 freight forwarders in 193 countries to facilitate fast and efficient freight movement for customers all over the world.
MVX had always sought to connect with organisations such as this to support its goal of accelerating trade in Africa. Confirming their membership, Tonye Membere-Otaji, MVX Founder and CEO, affirmed that the Africa-focused company can now link with freight partners in more than 190 countries worldwide with speed and without hassle.
“It is an important milestone for us as we look to connect African businesses with the global marketplace and vice versa. We have always focused on going the extra mile to serve our customers better and faster. The WCAworld network would help us deliver speedy and efficient services to our clients anywhere in the world,” he said.
Global trade has rebounded following the COVID-19 pandemic-instigated slump, meaning international freight transport corridors have picked up business. Africa’s exports are heavily reliant on markets outside the shores of the continent. Exports from Africa to the rest of the world accounted for 80% to 90% of its total trade between 2000 and 2017. MVX’s membership to a global body of freight forwarders gives African merchants an immense advantage to trade worldwide at greater efficiency and with reduced challenges.
According to Ebenezer Esomchi, MVX’s Import Freight Operations Manager, “sometimes, one of the biggest challenges we face in our industry is coordinating freight shipping in destinations we have limited partners. It can be a real headache for us and customers who need their shipments moved faster. Having access to this network elevates our capacity to deliver shipments for customers anywhere in the world with no stress.”
MVX’s commitment to accelerating trade in Africa means that it builds products that make freight shipping more effortless and more coordinated for African merchants and forms crucial global partnerships to enable merchants to move cargo faster and at optimum costs to and from anywhere in the world.
“We are excited to be accepted into this network, which is the largest in the world. MVX is keen on accelerating trade in Africa, and having this network to rely on fulfils a critical part of our goals. African merchants can be confident that they have a partner in us to help them trade anywhere in the world,” Membere-Otaji said.
The World Cargo Alliance (WCAworld) is the world’s largest and most powerful network of independent freight forwarders, with over 9,896 member offices in 193 countries worldwide. The combined logistics might of the WCAworld membership exceeds even the world’s largest multinational freight forwarders.
